Lifespan: Up to 13 years

Mating: Arctic foxes are monogamous and usually mate for life. Mating occurs from April to July, births take place from April through June for the first litter, and July or August for the second litter.

Number of kits per litter: Ranging from 4-14; data has been found that up to 25 were seen!

Litters per year: Usually 1 but often have 2

Size: 50-60cm + 30cm tail

Weight: 3-8kg

Food: Whatever animal or vegetable they can find they eat. The are known to follow polar bears and eat the left overs of their kill.

Notes: Found throughout the Arctic, usually on turndra or mountains near the sea. In adaptation to the climate, it has short rounded ears, a short muzzle, and their feet are fur covered. They do not hibernate, but are active everyday. A typical family unit consists of one adult male, two vixens, and the litter - one of the vixens does not breed but instead stays to help care for the next litter.
